Yikes! Anyone else feeling a bit all over the place and a bit crazy? Well if you are, the chances are it's down to the full Moon which happens tonight. So with it being Full Moon and all I thought I'd share my musings with you...
The Moon is our closest neighbour and although she is smaller than the Sun she packs a mighty punch exerting 2 1/2 times the gravitational pull of the Sun. The Moon's powerful pull effects everyone and every living thing on our planet.
In Pagan belief systems the Moon represents the feminine and is seen as the Goddess or Grandmother Moon. She embodies the emotional, creative and nurturing aspects of our lives - ever-changing yet constant, bringing light to the dark. One complete cycle of the moon takes exactly 28 days to complete, which again links to the female cycle.
As well as the effects the Moon has on the Tides (Ocean, Earth, Fire and Air) the Moon can also effect our moods. Ever heard of a 'Lunatic'? The very word lunatic comes from the Latin 'Lunar' meaning determined by, or resembling the moon. In fact Lunacy was a actually seen as a valid legal defense in 19th century Britain, when it was seen as an unstable mental condition brought about by the Full Moon! Many friends working in the Emergency Services have also told me that people seem to go 'crazy' around full moon as do animals - Werewolves always transform at the sight of a full moon!!
So tonight is the Full Moon which is the 'High Tide' of power and the energy can be almost tangible! It's the last phase, end of the cycle and therefore represents endings. The Full Moon sheds light into the dark corners of your life, highlighting and illuminating what is and isn't working. Its the time to let go of those things that no longer serve you, to let go of something or indeed someone that you no longer need in your life; or an opportunity to let go of a habit of an aspect of yourself that you have outgrown - let go of the negativity and cleanse.
So tonight I'm going to make use of this amazing power by charging my crystals in the light of the moon. You can do the same, place your crystals somewhere safe in the moonlight. Mine will be out in the garden on a beautiful cloth for an extra boost of the early morning dew but you can leave yours on a window sill or anywhere where they can soak up the energy.
I also like to have a Full Moon bath - to literally cleanse myself. Light a couple of candles, put something lovely in the water - I like to use Himalayan Salt and a few drops of Lavender, Geranium and Rose essential oil - listen to some relaxing music and relax. As you lie in the water think about those things in your life that you want to release and feel them leaving your body and seeping out into the water. When you're ready, pull the plug out and visualise all those things you've released flowing down the plug hole and out of your life, going back in to Mother Earth to be cleansed and reborn.
Whatever you decide to do this Full Moon, stay safe and have a lovely evening. If you would like to share your Full Moon rituals or experiences we'd love to hear from you.
Brightest Full Moon Blessings
